Alan Blackburn – Director of Schools Performance

Alan worked in business and finance for 11 years before training as a teacher and completing a BSc in Mathematics and Secondary Education at Exeter University. He then joined Uffculme School in 1998 as a Newly Qualified Teacher, before becoming Second-in Charge of the Maths department and a Head of Year.

In 2004 Alan was appointed to the Senior Leadership Team as an Assistant Headteacher responsible for teaching and learning and professional development before being appointed as Deputy Headteacher with oversight of the school’s curriculum and assessment.

In 2018 Alan took on the headship of Uffculme School, leading it for 5 years until September 2023 when he was appointed as Director of Schools Performance for the BEP.
